Janka Hardness Scale
The Janka Hardness scale rates the hardness of wood. The higher the number the harder the wood, the lower the number the softer the wood. This will tell how well a wood will withstand dents and predict the difficulty of nailing, screwing and sawing. This compares the hardness between the species of wood. The Janka Hardness Scale has become an industry standard for determining whether a wood is suitable for flooring.
