It is a good idea to regularly clean your hardwood floors but here are some chemical you want to avoid. Do not use ammonia or dish washing detergent. Avoid using powdered all purpose cleaners. Oil soap and silicone-based product can ruin your hardwood floors.

Water in all its forms, even steam, should be limited. It can damage the wear layer and the whole floor.

Do not use steel wool or hard brushes on your floor. They can scratch the surface of your floors.

Use a cleaner that is made for hardwood floors and follow the directions.
