Quarter Round: Hardwood flooring must be installed with expansion space between the flooring and the wall because it naturally expands and contracts due to weather conditions. This molding not only adds a finishing touch but conceals the expansion space. It may also be used under cabinets where wall base won't fit or at the stairway's base to provide a subtle blend between the horizontal and vertical surfaces. Moldings and trims are color-coordinated to your new hardwood floor and are used to join flooring areas with other surfaces for a professionally finished, elegant look.
