Mapei Kerabond Premium Dry-Set Tile Mortar — 50 lb.

Mapei Kerabond is a premium-grade, dry-set mortar for setting tile and stone on interior and exterior floors and walls. It's the workhorse thin-set for standard residential and commercial installations — reliable, easy to work with, and compatible with a wide range of substrates and tile types when mixed with water.

For demanding applications, Kerabond is the dry-set component of the Kerabond / Keralastic System — a high-performance two-part system where Keralastic, a second-generation flexible acrylic latex additive, replaces water to deliver exceptional bond strength, flexural strength, elongation, and freeze/thaw durability. Use Keralastic when installing over plywood, setting nonvitreous tiles, or any project where added flexibility is required. 

Available in gray and white. Use white mortar under light-colored stone and translucent marble to prevent color bleed-through. Mix, slake for 10 minutes, and apply — no complicated prep required.

What's the difference between Kerabond and Kerabond T? Kerabond is a standard dry-set thin-set mortar suited for typical tile sizes. Kerabond T is formulated for large-and-heavy-tile (medium-bed) applications — oversized slabs and heavy stone that need a thicker, stronger mortar bed.

Can I mix Kerabond with water, or do I need Keralastic? Water works for most standard installations. Use Keralastic when setting over plywood, installing nonvitreous tiles, or any application where added flexibility and bond strength are needed.

Is it suitable for exterior use? Yes, for most exterior floor and wall applications. Protect from rain and frost for 7 days after installation.

What tile types can it be used with? Ceramic, porcelain, quarry tile, pavers, and Saltillo tile. For natural stone, avoid moisture-sensitive materials like green marble, some limestone and granite, agglomerate tiles, cultured marble, and resin-backed tiles.

Which color should I buy — gray or white? Use white under light-colored stone, translucent marble, or light-bodied tile where gray mortar could show through. Gray works for most other applications.

How long before the area can be used? Protect from foot traffic for 24 hours. Keep away from rain and frost for 7 days.

Does it meet ANSI standards? Yes — meets ANSI A118.1 (dry-set mortar) when mixed with water, and ANSI A118.4 (polymer-modified mortar) when mixed with Keralastic.

How do I mix it? Add the 50 lb. bag of powder gradually to the liquid while mixing, then let the mixture slake for 10 minutes before use. Clean tools with water while mortar is still fresh.
