Mapei Keralastic Latex Additive
Mapei Keralastic Premium Latex Additive for Kerabond
Keralastic is a premium-grade, second-generation "flexible" acrylic latex additive used to enhance Kerabond, Mapei's premium-grade dry-set mortar. This is Component B of the Kerabond/Keralastic System — mix with Kerabond powder (sold separately) to create a high-performance, flexible dry-set mortar with exceptional bond strength, flexural strength, elongation, and freeze/thaw durability.
Always use a latex additive like Keralastic when applying a dry-set mortar over plywood or when setting nonvitreous, semivitreous, vitreous, and impervious tile. Suited to the most demanding installs — difficult tiles, substrates, and job-site conditions.
Approved for most interior/exterior residential and commercial floor, wall, and ceiling installations of ceramic and porcelain tile, glass tile, quarry tile, pavers, Saltillo tile, and most marble, granite, and natural stone. Meets or exceeds ANSI A118.4 and A118.11 when mixed with Kerabond, Keraset, or Keraflor.

Can I use this with a different mortar powder? It's formulated for Kerabond, Keraset, or Keraflor specifically — that's where the ANSI performance ratings apply.
Do I need this for a plywood substrate? Yes — always use a latex additive when applying dry-set mortar over plywood.
Can I use it with green marble or resin-backed tile? No — those need an epoxy or urethane adhesive instead. Keralastic isn't recommended for moisture-sensitive stone or resin-backed tile.
What about glass tile? Check with the glass tile manufacturer and TCNA guidelines first — some glass tile backings aren't compatible. For translucent or transparent glass tile, use white Granirapid or Adesilex P10 instead.
