Mapei Planipatch is an ultra-fast-drying, self-curing, polymer-modified, cement-based patching compound that rapidly develops high compressive strength. It's the go-to floor prep product for smoothing, patching, and filling cracks, holes, voids, and depressions in concrete and approved wood underlayment's before installing any type of floor covering. 

Most floor coverings can be installed in as little as 1 hour after application. When mixed with Planipatch Plus instead of water, the Planipatch Plus System can be used as an embossing leveler or as a patch to fill voids over properly prepared vinyl sheet goods, VCT, and cement terrazzo before the direct glue-down installation of floor coverings.

What size bag should I buy? The 10 lb. is suited for small repairs — spot patching, isolated cracks, or minor voids. The 25 lb. covers medium-sized prep areas and single-room patch work. The 45 lb. is the right choice for large subfloor prep jobs, commercial installs, or full-floor skim coating runs.

How fast can I install flooring after applying Planipatch? Most floor coverings can go down in as little as 1 hour after application under normal conditions.

Can I use it over VCT or existing vinyl sheet goods? Not with water alone. Mix Planipatch with Planipatch Plus (full strength) to use over properly prepared VCT, vinyl asbestos tile, non-cushioned sheet goods, cement terrazzo, and residual cutback adhesive.

Does it work on wood subfloors? Yes — approved for exterior-grade plywood (Group 1, CC type) and any wood underlayment recommended by the wood or floor-covering manufacturer. Do not use over presswood, flakeboard, or metal substrates.

Can I use it to skimcoat rough concrete? Yes — suitable for skimcoating unfinished, rough-textured concrete to create a smooth surface before flooring installation.

What can I install over it? Any floor covering — ceramic tile, porcelain, natural stone, LVP, LVT, sheet vinyl, VCT, hardwood, and carpet.

Is it for interior use only? Yes — interior use only. Not approved for exterior applications.

Does it need a primer first? On porous concrete, priming with a Mapei-compatible primer is recommended to control absorption and ensure proper bond. Follow the TDS for substrate-specific prep requirements.
