Mapei Planipatch Plus Acrylic Latex Additive

Planipatch Plus is an acrylic latex additive formulated specifically for use with Planipatch, Mapei's fast-setting, polymer-modified, cement-based patching compound. Mixing Planipatch Plus (undiluted or diluted) with Planipatch powder — sold separately — creates the Planipatch Plus System, which can be used as an embossing leveler or void-filling patch over substrates a standard patch mix can't bond to.

Enhances bond to select nonporous substrates, including vinyl composition tile (VCT), felt-backed sheet vinyl, cutback and carpet-adhesive residue, cement terrazzo, and Mapei moisture barriers — before direct glue-down installation of new floor coverings. Improves flexibility and adhesion beyond what Planipatch achieves with water alone.

Required whenever Planipatch is used to patch or skimcoat over existing flooring (ceramic tile, sheet vinyl, VCT) or flooring adhesive residue. Once mixed, pot life is approximately 8–10 minutes at 73°F — mix only small batches at a time.

Can I use Planipatch with just water instead? For patching or skimcoating over existing flooring or adhesive residue, no — Planipatch Plus is required for proper bond. Water alone works on clean, porous concrete or exterior-grade plywood only.

How much powder does one jug mix with? The 1 gallon jug mixes with two 10 lb. bags of Planipatch. The 5 gallon pail mixes with nine 10 lb. bags.

How long can I work with it once mixed? Pot life is about 8–10 minutes at 73°F. Warmer temperatures or warm water shorten that window, so mix only small batches.

Do I need to dilute it? Not necessarily — it can be used full strength or diluted 3:1 with water, depending on the application. Check the Planipatch technical data sheet for guidance on which to use.
