Cottage Graphite from Tile Collection is a matte porcelain hexagon made to look like old European terracotta that's been whitewashed and weathered over time, in a deep charcoal-grey tone. It brings the warmth of a farmhouse floor with the durability and low upkeep of porcelain.

Each hex measures roughly 5.5" x 6.3" and is 8.5 mm thick, with pressed edges. Shade variation is deliberately high, and different tones come mixed in every box, so no two tiles read exactly the same. That variation is the point of the look, but it also means you should pull from several boxes at once and lay out tiles before setting to check the blend.

It's rated for floors and walls, indoors and out. Low water absorption and frost resistance make it a good fit for covered patios and sunrooms as well as kitchens, entryways, mudrooms and bathrooms. DCOF is above 0.42, so it meets the standard for level interior floors that get wet.

Install with a polymer-modified thinset and standard porcelain methods. Because pieces can vary slightly in size, a joint of about 2 mm (roughly 1/16") is recommended rather than butting tiles tight, plus proper perimeter and movement joints. Clean up grout haze with a ceramic tile haze remover, then maintain with warm water and a neutral liquid cleaner; skip powdered or abrasive cleaners.

Is the tile actually 6" x 6"?
No. 6x6 is the nominal name. The actual tile is about 5.5" across the flats and 6.3" point to point, so plan your layout and quantities from the real dimensions.

Can I use it outside?
Yes. It's frost resistant with very low water absorption, so it works on covered patios, porches and other outdoor areas in addition to indoor floors and walls.

Why do the tiles look different from each other?
The collection is designed with intentional shade variation to mimic aged terracotta. Blend tiles from multiple boxes during install and inspect the material before setting, since variation isn't treated as a defect.

How tight can I set the joints?
Not tight. A joint of roughly 2 mm is recommended because handmade-look tiles can vary slightly in size, and setting them without joints can cause problems down the line.

Will it get slippery when wet?
Its DCOF rating is above 0.42, which meets the ANSI standard for level interior floors expected to be walked on when wet. For exposed outdoor areas, follow local slip-resistance requirements.
