Wall Base

Wall base is a cosmetic piece that will cover the expansion gap. It can be glued or nailed in easily. This trim piece will make the room look complete, professional and elegant. This molding is durable, scratch resistant and made from water resistant glued MDF.

Reducer

Reducer molding trim pieces are used when you have two floors that are slightly different heights. A reducer works well for laminate, wood, vinyl ceramic or low-pile floor. If there is an extreme height difference this will not work, you may need an end cap.

T-Molding

A T-Molding is used when transitioning from one hard surface to another hard surface. T-Molding looks like a capital T. The top part of the “T” overlaps both hard surfaces. These two hard surfaces must be the same height. The T-Molding can crack if they are not. A T-Molding will not work for a hard surface to carpet since there is not enough support on the carpeted end. For floors of different heights, a different trim piece will be needed such as a reducer or an end cap. 

Quarter Round

One of the most common trim pieces is a quarter round. The quarter round is used to cover the expansion gap between a hard surface and the wall. It is nailed into the baseboard. It can be used solo or paired with wall base.

Overlap Stair Nose

Overlap stair nose trim piece have a small protruding piece that overlaps the floor. Overlap stair nose are not meant for a full staircase but are made for the transition from the floating floor down to the first step of the staircase. If used on a full staircase it can be a tripping hazard. This trim piece will make the stair look complete, professional and elegant.
